End of Term: Letter to Parents

Fri 22 Mar 2024
Dear Parents and Carers.

As the Spring term draws to a close I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. I am so incredibly proud of our students and the resilience that they continue to display.

It will be a pleasure to welcome students back on Monday 8 April ready for the final term and the challenges that lay ahead and we cannot wait to get started on this term, ensuring our consistent learning routines, high expectations, praise and rewards are once again firmly embedded.

We are also excited to welcome the students who have selected to attend Outwood Academy Shafton next year as part of our transition.  We will be in contact shortly to discuss uniform arrangements and the up and coming events.

As we move into a new term, I wanted to once again highlight the expectations we have of students when they return:

  • Over the next few weeks we will be working with Y11 students to ensure that they are focussed, calm and ready to start their formal exams.  It is important that students maintain high levels of attendance and attend the enrichment sessions planned to support their progress.

  • Our Y10 students will be working on a step up programme, ensuring that all of our students are ready and prepared as they step up to Y11.

  • The new term will see form changes for Year 7 classes, as we start to prepare our classes for Y8. Timetables will be distributed in forms during our first day back.

  • All students should return to school equipped with a bag, pen, pencil, ruler and planner.  Students will be asked to present these items when they arrive at school on their first day back and every morning as they arrive.

  • Students should be in the correct full uniform, guidance is in the school planner and also on the website.  A reminder that false eyelashes and jewellery are not permitted. Skirts should be worn as per the uniform policy, i.e. not rolled over and students wearing trousers need to ensure that they are wearing black socks.

I hope that you have a safe and relaxing Easter break; thank you for your support as ever.

Yours faithfully,

Alison McQueen
