Letter to Y11 Parents and Carers

Wed 21 May 2025
Dear Year 11 Parents and Carers,

As we approach the final weeks of Year 11, we are writing to you to emphasise the importance of maintaining the high standards that we have set throughout the year. These final weeks are crucial for your child's success in their upcoming exams and your support in ensuring they adhere to our expectations is greatly appreciated.

We would like to remind you of the school's policies regarding uniform and jewellery. Maintaining the correct uniform and adhering to the jewellery guidelines helps create a focused and professional learning environment for all students. We ask for your support in ensuring your child follows these rules.

Attendance is also paramount during this critical period. Every lesson, including masterclasses and revision sessions, provides valuable opportunities for students to consolidate their knowledge and improve their understanding before their exams. We have noticed that some students are leaving the school site after their morning exams. It is vital that students attend all scheduled sessions, as these are specifically designed to support their learning and improve their outcomes. Missing these sessions can significantly impact their preparation for their exams.

Furthermore, we want to highlight the link between attendance and eligibility for the Year 11 prom. As previously communicated, good attendance is a key criterion for attending this celebratory event. Students who frequently miss school, including vital revision and learning opportunities, may unfortunately not meet the attendance requirements for the prom.

It is important for our Year 11 students to recognise the significant impact their commitment has on their own outcomes. Consistent effort and engagement in these final weeks will directly contribute to their success in their exams and future pathways. Additionally, as the most senior students in the school, they serve as role models for our younger students. Their dedication to their studies and adherence to school standards sets a positive example for the rest of the school community.

We understand that this is a demanding time for Year 11 students and we appreciate your ongoing support in encouraging them to remain focused and committed. Our aim as an academy is to focus on preparing students for their exams and not conversations with regards to standards, which all have followed so well this year. Working together, we can ensure that all our students have the best possible chance of achieving their full potential and celebrating their achievements at the Year 11 prom.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Y11 team.

Yours faithfully,

The Year 11 Team
