Letter to Parents and Carers: September 2025: Detentions

Tue 15 Jul 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you of a change in sanction times with effect from September 2025, a decision which we believe will further enhance our positive school environment.

As you will know, detentions are currently 30 minutes (C4a) or one hour (C4b). With effect from September, we will be reducing these sessions to 20 minutes for C4a detention and 40 minutes for C4b detention. Detention in the Reflection Room will also now be 40 minutes.

At our recent Ofsted inspection, it was noted that 'disruption in lessons is rare', and we are committed to building on this positive environment. This adjustment aims to reinforce our school's commitment to immediate reflection and positive behaviour choices, allowing students to learn from their mistakes effectively while also respecting their time. Our goal is to further encourage positive choices and support all students in making good decisions that lead to fewer sanctions and a more harmonious learning experience for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in fostering a productive and respectful learning community.

Yours faithfully,
Alison McQueen
Principal
