Dear Parents and Carers,
Appointment of Parent Governor at Outwood Academy Shafton
I am pleased to share that we have appointed a new Parent Governor to join our Academy Council at Outwood Academy Shafton: Ms R Wilcock
The role of governor is an important one. Our aim must be to ensure that students leave our school as good citizens, able to have rewarding and fulfilling lives. We need to work to arrange that, in addition to achieving examination success, our students leave us with firm places to go on to in the next step of their chosen careers.
There are a maximum of four Academy Council meetings each year and, as well as attending the majority of these, governors should also come into to school from time to time to gain an understanding of the performance of the school and to help staff with particular tasks and activities, such as disciplinary matters; representing parents views and concerns; student enhancements; safeguarding; careers advice and so forth.
We would like to welcome Ms Wilcock and ask you to support them in their role.
With best regards,
Tracy Martin
Chair of Academy Council
