Letter to Y7 - Y10 Parents and Carers: Maths Homework
Tue 18 Nov 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to inform you about an exciting change to how we will be setting and marking homework in the Maths Department, designed to provide more immediate and personalised support for your child’s learning.
We are launching a new weekly homework system accessible via Google Forms within the familiar structure of Google Classroom. This shift to a digital, multiple-choice format allows us to streamline the process and offer targeted support instantly. All homework will be delivered through a Google Form assigned weekly on Google Classroom. The questions will be multiple-choice, which helps us to quickly identify common misconceptions and areas for improvement. Students should ensure they answer every question to the best of their ability.
Homework will be set every Tuesday and will be due the following Tuesday. This schedule gives students a full week to complete the task, encouraging them to manage their time effectively and seek help from their teacher if they encounter difficulties during the week.
The most significant benefit of this new platform is the instant feedback loop. Once a student submits their homework, they will receive an email shortly afterwards. This email will contain links to specific videos that correspond to only the questions they answered incorrectly. This means every student gets targeted support exactly where they need it, helping them understand and correct their mistakes immediately.
To ensure the work is appropriate for your child's learning level and targets the right set of skills, the homework is split into different tiers of difficulty. It is essential that your child answers the questions for the correct tier. Their class teacher will clearly communicate which tier they are expected to complete (e.g. Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.). Please remind your child to select the correct tier before beginning the homework.
We are confident that this new approach will increase student engagement, provide valuable self-correction opportunities and ultimately lead to improved understanding and outcomes in Mathematics.
If you have any questions regarding access or the new process, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Maths teacher.
