Letter to Parents and Carers: Year 7 ACE Programme

Wed 26 Nov 2025
Dear Parents and Carers.

Our Academy Conduction Expectations (ACE) programme has been running to support all Year 7 students as they join Outwood Academy Shafton.

The ultimate aim of this programme is to prepare students for their first year at OA Shafton and support them with reaching the very top of the pyramid that adorns all of our academies. This is not just about grades, but about helping our children to acquire the moral character that will bring them and our community happiness. Overall, our ACE programme reinforces what you, as parents and carers, have already instilled in your children; for them to Be Safe, Be Respectful. Be Responsible & Be Extraordinary.

The five modules delivered over 12 lessons in the first half-term takes students through the Learning Journey which ensures students are aiming for the Top Of The Pyramid displaying qualities of an excellent student because ‘It’s Who I Am’.

As students complete the sessions and during their form time they are expected to gain signatures on their ACE Passport. These signatures can be gathered from SLT, form tutors and Y7 enrichment leaders when students are seen to be fulfilling the success criteria in their lessons or in the wider school community.

As we come to the end of the first term, students who have received over 20 out of 25 signatures will be invited to the ACE Celebration and awarded the ACE Bronze Award. This includes a Bronze ACE lapel pin that can be proudly displayed on their blazer. Students have been informed this week that the deadline for completion of the ACE passport is Friday 5 December. Students are aware they need to show their completed passport to their form tutor so we can keep track of student completion. Thank you for your support in speaking to your child about their ACE Bronze passport and collection of signatures.
