3-in-1 Teenage booster and MenACWY Vaccinations

Tue 30 Jan 2024
Dear Parent/Carer,

A part of the UK routine Childhood Immunisation Schedule, we are offering the 3-in-1 teenage booster and MenACWY vaccines to your child. The 3-in-1 teenage booster protects against three different diseases – Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio. The MenACWY protects against Meningococcal A, C, W and Y.

Why is it important to protect your children from these diseases?
Diphtheria – is a life-threatening disease where poisons produced by the bacteria entering the blood stream can damage the heart and other organs.
Tetanus – is a disease that tends to be caused by an infected wound and can be fatal.
Polio – can result in severe paralysis and can be fatal.
Meningitis – can affect all age groups, which can cause two very serious illnesses, meningitis, and septicaemia.

Leaflets explaining these vaccinations are provided. Please discuss these with your child. Barnsley School Aged Immunisation Team will be visiting Outwood Academy Shafton on 6th and 20th March to administer these vaccines.

Please visit www.barnsleysais.co.uk and fill in the consent form using school code BN139211, even if you do not want your child to be
protected from these diseases.

If you have any queries, please contact Barnsley SAIS on barnsleysais@swyt.nhs.uk or call us on 01226 644233 / 644234.

Yours sincerely,
