Barnsley School Aged Immunisation Service

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of the UK routine Childhood Immunisation Schedule, we are offering the 3-in-1 teenage booster and MenACWY vaccines to your child. The 3-in-1 teenage booster protects against three different diseases – Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio. The MenACWY protects against
Meningococcal A, C, W & Y.

Why is it important to protect your children from these diseases?

Diphtheria – is a life-threatening disease where poisons produced by the bacteria entering the blood stream can damage the heart and other organs.
Tetanus – is a disease that tends to be caused by an infected wound and can be fatal.
Polio – can result in severe paralysis and can be fatal.
Meningitis – can affect all age groups, which can cause two very serious illnesses, meningitis, and septicemia.
