28 April 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was lovely to welcome students back to the academy after Easter refreshed, equipped and ready to learn; it is always such a pleasure to have students back with us.

In terms of our uniform standards, and as we approach the much warmer weather, I wanted to thank you for all your support with students no longer wearing non-uniform jumpers, as always, a plain black V-neck jumper (with or without academy logo) may still be worn on cooler days.

I recognise that it is important to students, families, the wider community and our academy that we maintain good uniform standards. May I please ask for your further support in ensuring that uniform is worn correctly, i.e. no rolling over of waistbands on skirts.  This has become a real concern, resulting in some difficult conversations about the appropriate lengths of skirts and so I am making this a key area for improvement in our uniform this half term.

During our summer term we will be focused on ensuring that our uniform standards are maintained, that our academy uniform is worn correctly and I appreciate the support that you can give us in maintaining those standards.

From Tuesday 3 May 2022, after the bank holiday, students will be given an initial reminder on arrival at the academy to ensure that uniform is worn correctly.  The rolling over of skirt waistbands, from this stage onward, once students enter the academy will result in a C4B one hour detention after school at 2:30.

We have a great opportunity this term to work together with our young people, your children, in getting the small things right so that we can focus on the big things.

Finally, we are starting to plan some exciting events in the academy and I look forward to welcoming you through our doors.

Yours faithfully,

Alison McQueen
